Weekly plasma cutter cleaning and inspection tips
We covered daily cleaning and inspection tips for your industrial plasma cutter systems last week. Today, we focus on weekly tasks: the things you should do once a week to ensure your high definition or oxygen plasma performs the way it should. In the Hypertherm line-up, this would include our HyPerformance and MAXPRO200 systems.
1. Inspect all air hoses, coolant hoses, and torch leads. Look for scrapes and cuts, punctures, chemical spills and burns, or any kinks or bends that would restrict flow.
2. Check for gas leaks. You’ll want to conduct an inlet leak test, system leak test, and proportional valve test. Before doing this last test, make sure you are using the right consumables and have selected the correct plasma process.
3. Check coolant flow. If you have an auto-gas console, this can be done right from your CNC. If you have a manual gas console, go to your console to make sure it says “flow”. If the CNC detects a problem or you don’t see the word “flow”, then you’ll need to perform the specific Coolant Flow tests found in your owner’s manual.
That's it. Three things in all. Put aside a little time each week to go through this list and you're sure to have fewer unpleasant surprises down the road.
