2009 North American Technical Service Workshops


   Automation Technical Service Level 1

*March 9th – 11th   April 7th – 9th *August 24th – 26th   October 27th – 29th This course is designed to provide new to intermediate Technical Service Professionals with the foundation needed to install and support the Hypertherm Automation family of products. This popular training workshop is a combination of classroom and interactive laboratory activities. Hands on exercises are designed to assist attendees in performing installation, setup and operation. Key topics covered Motion control theory Product capabilities and differentiation Detailed review of Phoenix CNC software Installation guidelines for common hardware configurations System troubleshooting
Prerequisite – Attendees should have familiarization of plasma cutting systems and cutting machine components prior to attending this class.
* Indicated dates have been selected to coincide with Mechanized Service 1 workshops allowing attendance at both training classes if desired.

   Automation Technical Service Level 2

February 10th – 12th *June 22nd – 24th *September 21st – 23rd This course is designed to provide experienced Technical Service Personnel with in-depth troubleshooting to support Automation products. During the training Hypertherm will offer you a combination of classroom and interactive training and exercises designed to assist you in addressing installation, end user training and common troubleshooting in the field. A large portion of the training centered on hardware hands-on activities with Hypertherm products. Key topics covered Field troubleshooting tools and approaches Customer setups and part files in troubleshooting Hands-on motion tuning and introduction to SERCOS Common system configuration wiring Automated plasma height control theory and operation
Prerequisite – Hypertherm Automation level one within the last 3 years.

   Manual Systems Service

March 17th – 18th May 26th – 27th October 13th – 14th This course features activities and demonstrations designed to familiarize service personnel with the Powermax line. We will focus on the sequence of operation as well as subsystems and their functions. Attendees will practice technical service methods based on knowledge of the system and its function to promote a methodology of concise, effective troubleshooting. Our goal is to provide a detailed, service-oriented set of explanations and exercises that will increase repair efficiency. Key topics covered Plasma fundamentals Subsystems Sequence of operation Common service issues Troubleshooting tips and tools Preventive maintenance
Prerequisite – Familiarity with electro-mechanical equipment maintenance, troubleshooting and repair.

   Introduction to Mechanized Service

March 19th May 28th October 15th Offered at the end of the manual systems service training, this half-day course is intended for experienced service technicians who have an interest in mechanized plasma cutting machines and processes. The HT2000 will be the example machine. March 3rd – 5th April 14th – 16th August 18th – 20th - THIS CLASS IS FULL November 17th – 19th This course is for service and repair technicians with little or no experience with our systems, and features activities and demonstrations designed to familiarize service personnel with Hypertherm’s mechanized plasma cutting systems. We will focus on the sequence of operation as well as subsystems and their functions. Attendees will practice technical service methods based on knowledge of the system and its function to promote a methodology of concise, effective troubleshooting. Our goal is to provide a detailed, service-oriented set of explanations and exercises that will increase repair efficiency. Key topics covered Mechanized plasma cutting systems overview Technical review of current Hypertherm systems Power supply subsystems Sequence of operations in system troubleshooting Standard operating techniques and cutting processes

   Mechanized Systems Service: Level 2

June 16th – 18th  CLASS IS FULL September 15th – 17th This advanced course is designed to provide in-depth technical coverage of our current systems. The course is designed for technicians with experience repairing and/or installing our systems. We will explain the sequence of operation as well as subsystems and their functions in detail. Attendees will troubleshoot complex situations and use advanced techniques in our training lab. There will be increased emphasis on application of technical service methods to real-world situations. Key topics covered Installation issues Advanced systems maintenance and repair Design and function of power supply subsystems Using the sequence of operations in system troubleshooting Providing operator training
Prerequisite – Completion of Mechanized Systems Service Training Level 1 or approval from Customer Training Team.

   Plasma Process Optimization for Service Personnel

March 6th April 17th June 19th August 21st- September 18th November 20th This half-day course is offered after Mechanized Service Training Level 1 and Level 2 classes and is designed to familiarize service personnel with operating parameters and common practices. Emphasis will be on cut quality and consumable life optimization. Key topics covered Plasma cutting fundamentals Secondary operations reduction Optimizing consumable life Basic system troubleshooting Preventative maintenance
