Plasma can be used to cut any electrically-conductive metal, including stainless steel, aluminum, copper and brass. In contrast, oxyfuel cuts by creating a chemical reaction between the oxygen and the iron in mild steel, so it can only be used to cut mild (carbon) steel.
(Click for larger photos)Additionally, plasma systems can be used to gouge, mark, or cut rusty, painted, or even stacked metal. In addition, you can bevel cut or cut expanded metal with plasma, both of which are difficult to cut with oxyfuel.
