Strategic Partners
The HOPE Foundation seeks to identify non-profit organizations in the communities within which we live and work, and to establish strategic partnerships with those organizations that align with our Philanthropic Mission and Areas of Special Interest. Specifically, we seek organizations that have developed a sustainable model for the support of children and families within our four core focus areas of education and arts, health and wellness, housing, and the environment.
Strategic partners will evidence inclusiveness and a respect for all people. They will have demonstrated honesty, integrity, and ethical practices both internally as well as to their external stakeholders. They are expected to display "best in class" attributes, and to exhibit and report on a demonstrable return on partnership investments. Finally, these organizations must be able to show organizational and program sustainability.
In return, the HOPE Foundation expects to supply both financial and non-financial support for the partnership. Regular financial contributions are a key element of the partnership, but use of the volunteer time of Hypertherm Associates through Community Support Time (CST) can be equally or even more important to the partner organization. Additionally, the expertise of Hypertherm Associates is regularly tapped by strategic partners for service on Boards and committees, for advice on programs and strategies, and for technical assistance on a wide range of topics.
Several strategic partners include:
Northern Stage
HOPE is the program underwriter for Project Playwright, serving 500 elementary school children in ten schools deemed insufficient in literacy and reading.
Childrens' Hospital at Dartmouth (CHaD)
HOPE has sponsored several individual events, and has made a multi-year commitment to help fund a new Pediatric Emergency Room at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. Hypertherm Associates have volunteered at CHaD events and continue to serve on the Friends of CHaD Board.
Friends of Norris Cotton Cancer Center
HOPE is a major corporate sponsor of the Prouty Century Bike Ride & Challenge Walk. Hypertherm teams compete in the Prouty and in the Green Mountain Motorcycle Ride, and Associates have served on the Friends' Board for over a dozen years as well as providing technical assistance on specific projects.
Upper Valley Haven
Since 2002, Hypertherm has been supporting The Haven with financial contributions and associate volunteers. Over the years associates have donated countless hours to help carry out The Haven mission.
Special Olympics of the Upper Valley
HOPE provides regular financial support for the Special Olympics but the major contribution comes from the hundreds of Associates who organize and operate the annual fall Olympics for the entire Upper Valley.
Upper Valley Business and Education Partnership (UVBEP)
HOPE is a Corporate Underwriter for UVBEP's "Everyone Wins!" reading program. Hypertherm has the largest number of volunteer in-school reading tutors in the program.
Montshire Museum of Science
Since its inception The Hypertherm HOPE Foundation has sponsored the Lab-Coat Investigation program. This program is for age 9 and above and the activities often use specialized tools and equipment such as compound microscopes. Our associates and our families are frequent visitors of the Montshire.
Vital Communities
HOPE partners financially with Vital Communities in support of its many initiatives. We sponsor a participant of the Leadership Upper Valley Program, as well as actively promote the Smart Commute program. We also participate on the Corporate Council as well as the Energy Council that Vital Communities leads in an effort to coordinate Environmental Stewardship in the Upper Valley.
United Way of the Upper Valley
Hypertherm sponsors a pilot campaign internally each year, and HOPE matches Hypertherm Associate contributions dollar-for-dollar. Hypertherm Associates have served on the United Way Board of Directors and on the Allocation Committee.
Corps of Volunteers Effecting Reuse and Repair (COVER)
HOPE is a regular sponsor of COVER's annual concert, their major fundraising activity. Perhaps even more helpful, Hypertherm Associates regularly staff volunteer opportunities for The "Warm" and other home repair projects. Hypertherm is also represented on the COVER Board.
